Chosen by The Living School of Action and Contemplation

I'm so excited to be invited to attend the Living School for Action and Contemplation founded by Richard Rohr. His books have inspired me for years and have breathed new life into my spirituality by seeing Christianity through mystics' eyes. The Living School offers a unique opportunity to a select group of students to deepen engagement with their most authentic selves and with the world. I'm so humbled and honored to have the chance to learn from five of the most significant living contemplative teachers, Living School core faculty Richard Rohr, Cynthia Bourgeault, James Finley, Barbara Holmes, and Brian McLaren.

When I first discovered the Living School a few years ago, I longed to go there, but I was sickened with a chronic disease. In 2019, having been diagnosed correctly with a demyelinating disorder called MOG antibody disease, I took a serious look at it again. Although my treatment was working, I stopped myself from applying because my brain was still healing, and I didn't feel I could keep up with all the required reading. Then in the summer of 2020, I was reminded by a friend about the school. I excitedly looked over the curriculum, requirements, and discernment steps for applying. That day with an intense spark of inspiration and certainty in my heart, I requested an application.

The application process was a profound spiritual journey, challenging me to reflect on my life experiences and how they shaped me into who I am today. It took me months of serious thought and contemplation to complete the questions and essay required. I want to thank my dearest confidants (you know who you are), for, without your support, I couldn't have done this.

I believe that Living School can show me the more in-depth spiritual experience I crave. And how to open up to bigger questions about myself. Ones that remove blocks to my True Self to return home with a greater ability to love. I'm eager to learn new contemplative practices to keep me grounded in Christ. I want to grow in my faith by being around faith-filled people; what better gathering place.

I am most grateful to receive the help I need to courageously engage in solidarity with those who suffer and discover how my gifts can better serve this world's needs.

I am healthy now, ready, and willing to do my part; however, the Holy Spirit guides me.
