Experimenting with Color and Texture

I photographed this close-up of an amaryllis bloom because it's lines and patterns drew me in. Once I brought the image into Lightroom for processing, it seemed a little too ordinary. So, off to the pixel playground I often go to explore colors and texture. Photoshop is where I play with different texture layers and blend modes until I create drama and impact. I love to use the plugin Impression from Topaz to add a vibrant, soft painterly look. Nik Color Effects is another favorite plugin when wanting to give my photographs punch.

Screenshots of the Photoshop layers used are displayed next to each corresponding image.
